Crowdfunding appeal set up for fantasy fiction film written by retired Pinchbeck teacher and partly set in Spalding
A retired teacher from Pinchbeck is inviting people across South Holland to be part of a fantasy fiction film project being made in the area.
Dr Patricia Buck is the creator of Heartsfelled, The Identity Stealer, a story about an Angle-Saxon storyteller and a "hero warrior" who saves a village from destruction.
Scenes for the movie, to be released next summer, are due to be shot in July at Spalding's Ayscoughfee Gardens where a cast of actors and film crew will return after a similar exercise last year.
Dr Buck, who taught A-Level film studies and law, said: "I used to be a performance poet and, in 2009, I wrote a series of poems about a warrior called Fyrdhwaet who was quite brave but underappreciated.
"Some of the poems were written in Anglo-Saxon language and when I talked to some scholars who were experts in the language, they encouraged to make a series of films out of them.
"In 2016, I approached some people who I knew were filmmakers and they thought it would be great fund to turn my poems into a fantasy fiction series, along the same lines as Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.
"Last year, we filmed the opening sequence of Heartsfelled: The Identity Stealer in Ayscoughfee Gardens and we are filming the final scene there as well."
Dr Buck has brought together a film crew and cast which includes actor, stunt performer and cinematographer Zak Holland, swordsman Pete Holland, costume designer Julia Gant and husband Nigel Gant who plays Heartsfelled.
An online Crowdfunder page has been set up to raise £5,000 towards the film through which people can "get something back for their support", including a special edition Heartsfelled book, clothing and a DVD of the finished film.
Dr Buck said: "It's exciting to be associated with Zak, Pete, Julia and Nigel for this project for which there will be lots of extraordinary film shoots to be done in the summer.
"I want people to be proud of local film production as I am very proud to be associated with Ayscoughfee Hall and Lincolnshire."
