The week’s hot weather culminated in a thunder storm which awoke people in the Spalding area in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service reported a lightning strike which started a small fire in a property on Riverside Park, Spalding.

Firecrews from the town were called to attend at 2.19am where a surge from the strike had caused a telephone to overheat, according to a fire service spokesperson.

The phone fire was already out on arrival and firefighters inspected the property to make sure of no further damage.
