Spalding library to close for upgrades and works in January

Spalding Library will close for two weeks in January for work to upgrade its fire alarm system and replace the front doors.

Due to the extent of the work required the library, in Victoria Street, will close from Saturday, January 11, at 1pm, to allow the work to be safely carried out.

It will reopen at 9am on Monday, January 27.

Sharman Morriss, library manager at Spalding Library, explains why the library must close for two weeks.

During the temporary closure the public computers and printing facilities will also be replaced with modern technology allowing customers free and fast access online.

Sharman Morriss, library manager at Spalding Library, said: “Closing the library is never an easy decision but due to the disruption this essential work will cause it just cannot be avoided.

"While the library is closed for the alarm and door work we will also be upgrading our public computer and printing facilities so that this does not need to be done when the library is open and further disrupt our customers.

"We are making sure that no items out on loan are due back during the closure and look forward to welcoming our customers back on Monday, January 27.”
