Thanks to all who answered election call
I would like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who answered the call to save Brexit and voted Conservative on Thursday, December 12.
Your votes delivered a landslide Conservative majority across the country to end the gridlock in parliament so we can get Brexit done and take back control of our laws, borders and economy.
This incredible victory for Boris Johnson is an unashamed reflection on the silent majority’s determination to get Brexit done in the face of those who have done everything in their power to betray the referendum result.
We have witnessed history in the making. It is incredible when you see Labour seats like Bolsover, Great Grimsby, Sedgefield, Wrexham, Darlington and many more turn to the Conservative Party to deliver the will of the British people expressed in the 2016 referendum to Leave the EU.
Leave voters from across the country warned what would happen if the politicians failed to respect our votes and the British lion has roared more loudly than at any time since the end of World War II.
Fed up with being ignored, treated with contempt and told that we are thick, ignorant peasants who did not know what we were voting for, we have now sent a clear message.
That, when you ask the British people a question in a referendum, and you get an answer – even if you do not like that answer – we expect you, our elected representatives, to do your duty, and carry out those instructions.
For all those who wanted a confirmatory vote, you have now had it and the majority supporting Brexit has grown stronger and larger with every day since this remain Parliament declared war on our democracy and the British people.
Equally, the way we will be leaving the EU is crystal clear. As we have said time and again, we will be leaving the EU, the Single Market and Customs Union, no ifs, no buts. We are mapping out a new dynamic global trading strategy that will deliver growth and prosperity for every part of Great Britain with no one, and no community, left behind.
Businesses and people can now have the certainty they have been craving and invest for the future safe in the knowledge that we are leaving the failing and corrupt EU, lock, stock and barrel.
June 23, 2016, can officially be recognised as our independence day. The day when the British people declared – we will not accept or bow to foreign rule; this island race that has shaped the world in its own image will be an independent, self-governing nation in control of its own destiny once again.
It is now imperative that Remainers accept the outcome of this election and respect our decision to Leave the EU.Until they do, we cannot begin to heal the divisions and reunite the country around a new vision for Britain.
