LETTER: Lord Porter deserves congratulations

By Spalding Today Letters

I would like to add my congratulations to Lord Porter on the recent decision by the Local Government Association(LGA) to name Porter Terrace after him to commemorate his four years as chairman and many years in other roles.

The LGA works on behalf of local councils with national government and I am sure the work Gary has done has made sure South Holland has been a beneficiary.

Last week I attended the LGA annual conference and exhibition as Leader of the Independent Group Lincolnshire County Council.

Gary Porter (13734248)
Gary Porter (13734248)

Talking to other memberson the day, it was obvious Gary had done a lot more for councils than most of us will ever know.

What was very apparent was that all the Secretaries of State, Ministers of State, officials of the Local Government Association and leaders of the other parties were full of praise for all the work Lord Gary Porter had done, particularly over the last four years.

So, whilst I don’t always agree with his views, he always makes sure the voice of South Holland is heard. Thank you Gary and congratulations.

Councillor Angela Newton

Leader Independent Group
