Flowers N Things is running a sugarcraft course at its shop in Spalding.

Learn how to create beautiful sugarcraft flowers. We are offering step-by-step lessons in forming and colouring leaves and petals, wiring and assembling flowers and buds and creating a delicate corsage to adorn a special occasion cake. Dee has a wealth of experience and she will share her knowledge and techniques, helping you to produce a lovely cake decoration. The course is to be held over five sessions, from Friday, June 3 to Friday, July 1 and the cost of £60 covers everything you will need. You can pop in to pick up a registration form or call us on 01775 769306.

To try it at home you will need the paste, flower cutters, a fondant roller, ball tool, a foam mat and forms to hold the flowers (bought at craft stores or you might have suitable bowls for larger flowers). Fill the forms with a light dusting of powdered sugar; roll out the paste thinly and cut a circle of paste and place in the form; cut out petals and place on mat – use the ball tool to create frilly edges; brush circle with lemon extract then gently place petals, then centre. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before painting.
