UPDATE: River search halted after investigation fails to find evidence of person in water
Police have halted their search of the River Welland and Cradge Bank after failing to find evidence of anybody in the water.
Officers and a police diving team had been searching the area since Wednesday evening (Jan 9) when they received a report that a person had gone into the water.
This afternoon, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police, said: "Despite working tirelessly today searching the area, foot patrols have failed to find any evidence of a person falling into the river."
The search has now finished, unless new information comes to light.
PREVIOUSLY (10.41am, January 11): Ongoing underwater search for person in Spalding
A police diving team and officers are currently at Cradge Bank in Spalding after a report a person had gone into the water.
The search of the River Welland has been ongoing since Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "We were called to a concern for safety at on January 9 at Cradge Bank in Spalding at 10.50pm.
"We had reason to believe a person had entered the water. An underwater dive team and police officers have been searching the area but we have not located anyone. Searches are ongoing."
