A weekly column from Tulip Radio’s Jan Whitbourn.
Tulip Radio is appealing for the last time to all South Holland residents who have served in the Armed Forces, and have not yet received their Veteran’s Badge, to email or contact the station as this is the final chance to have your badge formally presented.
This is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the special bond that exists between the people of Lincolnshire and those who serve, the debt we owe for their service and the ways in which our community is enriched by their experience.
Tulip Radio is pleased to be able to play a part in honouring the men and women of South Holland who have served their county by organising the Veteran’s Badge presentation. Everyone who has served in the Armed Forces is entitled to a Veteran’s Badge. We are asking applicants who have not yet done so to contact us today. There is a short form to be completed—then we’ll do the rest.
Veterans will receive their badge in a special ceremony on Friday, December 2 at St John the Baptist Church where the formal presentation will be made by John Hayes MP.
Entertainment will include a sing-along and South Holland’s annual School Choir Competition, which is sure to feature a few festive favourites to get us into the Christmas spirit. Father Christmas himself will be making an appearance. If you would like to come and watch the event and want to join in, please do let us know – all parents and family welcome.
