Hundreds of runners of all ages at this year’s Langtoft Road Race and Fun Run have helped to bring a smile to the faces of a number of local groups and organisations.

Thanks to a record number of entries in May’s event, which was sponsored by Deeping’s Empire Gym, organisers have been able to donate more than £2,000 from the proceeds raised to good causes.

Those to benefit include Langtoft Pre-School, Langtoft Junior Players, Bumps 2 Four and Langtoft United FC.

Langtoft Village Hall’s committee received a donation towards its defibrillator fund, while a kidney research charity, a cancer charity and a gap-year student undertaking voluntary work in Ghana also benefited.

With another successful event behind them, the organisers’ attention now turns to their 27th event, featuring a 3k and 10k once again, on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Sue Archer, of the organising committee, said: “This year we were hit by heavy rain which probably reduced the number of entries we had on the day, so, with fair weather next year, we could see our number of entrants go even higher.

“We are proud to be able to bring the community together in the way we do and to be able to help so many different good causes with the money the event raises.

“We look forward to welcoming runners and spectators to next year’s event, whatever the weather decides to throw at us!”
