Life went on almost as usual at home while war raged overseas in 1915.
In October, Mr and Mrs Henry Bingham were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with family.
The couple were married at St James Deeping Parish Church by the Rev Jno George on October 10, 1865.
They had gone on to have 12 children, five boys and seven girls, all of whom were still living in 1915.
All the offspring were married and had produced 27 grandchildren.
Mr Bingham had been in the service of the Great Northern Railway company for 37 years.
At the time of their anniversary, Mr and Mrs Bingham had been living in Kirton for 15 years.
