KFC pinpoints Spalding's Lincs Gateway site

KFC has identified the Lincs Gateway site as the likely base for its new Spalding restaurant.

A spokesman for KFC said today: "Our franchise partner has been reviewing the Lincs Gateway site layout.

"I am sure that there will be progress early in the new year."

The spokesman said he was not aware of any other sites under review for the new Spalding branch of the popular fast food chain.

In September, KFC revealed Spalding would get a drive-thru restaurant as the fast food giant looked to expand its number of UK outlets to more than 1,000 by 2020.

In December 2018, there was a plan from SME Corporation Ltd to build a KFC drive-thru on land in front of Spalding Bakery - but that was not connected to the September 2019 announcement.

A KFC spokesman said in September: "KFC are exploring a number of opportunities along the A16 corridor for drive-thru use. The bakery site is not one of them. Spalding will only support one KFC."

The Lincs Gateway site, on Cowbit Road, already has a Greggs, Subway and Costa as well as the Applegreen Service Station.
