A branch of KFC is due to open in Spalding 'in time for summer'.

Work has started on a new building at the Lincs Gateway Business Park - next to Applegreen services on the edge of town - and will house KFC and Taco Bell.

The plans were passed in July - with the prospect of 60 jobs.

Plans show the proposed Taco Bell and KFC building for Spalding.

A KFC spokesman: “We know the locals have been looking forward to their chicken fix arriving in Spalding.

"Rest assured, we’re on the case and we’ll be winging our way to you just in time for summer!”

It's not known if Taco Bell will open at the same time as KFC.

A 3032sqft KFC and 2060sqft Taco Bell restaurant/hot food takeaway will be created in the single storey building next to the Barrier Bank roundabout, with 45 car parking spaces.

A campaign - with its own dedicated Facebook page - had previously been set up to try to attract KFC to the town, with many people clamouring for the fast food chain.
