BEAUTY consultant Katie Hudson has put her Spalding department store on the map – beating Harrods in the process – to be acknowledged as the best in the business.
Katie (25) is the Clarins counter manager at Hills and won the Pure Beauty magazine award for the best department store beauty consultant.
She received her prize, an engraved plaque, at a ceremony in London’s Savoy Hotel on Thursday.
Store manager Darryl Simpson, who attended the event with Katie, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Katie has been recognised in this way. We feel we have excellent people working on the business, but for Katie to win a national award ahead of iconic retailers like Harrods is really something.”
Katie said 500 were originally entered and the field was whittled down to 30 and then three.
The result of the final was not announced until the final day when Katie found herself in the company of celebrities including Katie Price and Callum Best.
As part of the final judging, the finalists were asked to work in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant where they designed and produced cocktails.
She said: “It was great fun and very different to my day to day job.”
Katie had a day’s shopping in the West End but was back at work with her customers on Saturday.
