It's Spalding's most secure and exclusive car park
A secure car park designed to prevent prisoners from escaping could now keep your car safe during the working day.
Spaces at The Sessions House in Sheep Market, Spalding, are being offered from 7am-7pm Monday-Friday at a cost of £40 a month.
Oliver Sneath and wife Dorota had the parking plan in the back of their minds when they made the historic court their home in March 2017.
An approach from a nearby accountants sowed the seed for a spot of marketing, with Oliver this week giving out leaflets advertising the benefits of the gated car park at the side of their home.
These include key fob access for registered users only and CCTV monitoring.
The secure car park is a legacy of the building’s former users – the court – and is the spot where prisoners were escorted in and out of the building.
The couple have no plans at the moment to rent out spaces at the front of their home because they are used by family, friends and visitors.
Oliver said: “At the minute there’s eight spaces but there’s an opportunity for 10-12 spaces, which are in a secure area, and there’s key fob access and CCTV and all the things you would expect from a high security area.”
Oliver realises Spalding has plenty of parking – and the nearby Victoria Street car park is almost never full – but the public parking areas do not offer the same levels of security.
The couple have opened the building to weddings, a link with the past as it was once the home of Spalding’s Register Office.
Meanwhile the couple are still creating the home of their dreams at The Sessions House and Oliver describes its continued development as “a life-long” project.
