Looking back at a former ‘jewel in Spalding’s crown’

The once magnificent building that housed the original Johnson Hospital in Spalding looks very ‘forlorn’ today, explains history enthusiast Stuart Henderson.

“But at one time,” he says, “It was a jewel in the town’s crown.”

Mr Henderson, who lives in Gosberton, set himself the task of finding out more about the history of the old building, which has stood unoccupied in Priory Road since 2009.
