A popular employee at a Spalding bingo hall had a full house when she retired after working there for 50 years. Pat Wilkinson arrived at the Regent Bingo Club in Westlode Street to find a surprise party had been organised for her.
Staff presented her with gifts and a cake and many customers who had known her over the years turned out to wish her well. The bingo club was a cinema when Pat, of Bourne Road, started working there as an usherette. When it became a bingo club her role changed over the years to include working front of house, book sales and in the office. Claire Dixon, assistant manageress, said: “Pat will certainly be missed. She has been very popular with the customers over the years – even coming to show them her wedding dress on the day she married.
“Her surprise party was a huge success and everyone had a great time.
“It won’t be the last time we see her though. Next time she will be able to come and play though.” Pat (front) is pictured with staff and customers at her surprise party. Photo: (SG280615-134TW)
