MP urges small south Lincolnshire shops to enter competition




South Holland and The Deepings MP Sir John Hayes is urging shopkeepers to enter the best small shops competition. The competition celebrates the creativity of small shops and the important role they play in their local community. It is open to any small shop operating in the UK and is free to enter.

All shops who enter will also be promoted to consumers through an online Indie Retail Directory.Sir John said: “I shop at numerous small businesses across South Lincolnshire, from Donington to Sutton Bridge, Spalding and Holbeach, to Market Deeping and Deeping St James.”

Shopkeepers can nominate their businesses until Monday, September 9, through www.bestsmallshops.co.uk

A shortlist of 25 of the most impressive applications will be shortlisted by a panel made up of established representatives from the independent retail industry.The judges will be looking for evidence of a small shops’ entrepreneurial spirit, ways that they have been innovative in their business and what they have done to have a lasting positive impact on their community.

The shortlisted small shops will be invited to a parliamentary reception on November 5 to meet Sir John and find out who will be crowned the best small shop for 2019. Sir John said “I know from my own personal experience, that we have some of the best small shops in the country. I hope as many as possible will decide to enter.”
