Police investigate fire in Market Deeping in which house was destroyed

Police are are investigating a fire in Market Deeping which destroyed a house.

Police and fire crews were called to Beech Close,Market Deeping just before 4am today (Saturday, August 8).

In a statement, police said the property was extensively damaged but said "thankfully no-one was injured".

The owners of the house are being assisted with accommodation by the British Red Cross.

Police are working jointly with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service and the investigation is at an early stage.

The statement said: "The exact circumstances are not yet known, with investigating officers keeping an open mind as to what happened.

"If anyone witnessed the fire or can provide any information about how it started, please contact Lincolnshire Police on telephone 101 and quote incident 84 of August 8."
