‘Impressed’ by standard of shop windows

Have your say

Our photographer has been out and about this week taking pictures of the entrants in our flower parade window dressing competition.

Shops and businesses were invited to use their creative flair to dress their windows on the same theme as this weekend’s final parade – Let’s Celebrate.

And next week it will be the turn of you, our readers, to judge which one is the best.

The winner and second place will receive a trophy, while there are cash prizes up for grabs of £100, £50 and £25 for the top three to give to a charity of their choice.

The pictures will appear in the paper next week, so don’t miss your chance to vote.

The Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian have run the competition in conjunction with South Holland District Council economic development services.

Nigel Burch, senior economic development officer, said: “I walked around the town on Monday and I was very impressed with the standard and creativity shown by the shops that have entered the competition.

“Of particular interest to me were some of the old photographs and programmes from years ago, as well as the pride and skill that the retailers have shown in dressing their windows.

“I would really like to urge readers to go and visit these shops, have a look at the windows and support the businesses wherever they are able, and then vote for their favourites through the voting slip in the paper next week.

“Remember, the retail trade is going through a very tough time at the moment and it is up to us all to support them whenever we can if we want them to survive.”
