A 26st mum from Holbeach says she will be back at the school gates with her son when the new term starts, in spite of claims she is too fat to take him.
Sarah Rout was rocketed to fame when she appeared in Channel 5’s Supersized: No Fatties Allowed programme on Thursday last week.
But she says she was horrified when she saw a headline in the Sun newspaper: ‘I’m too fat to do the school run’, and read the hurtful comments that had been left on the newspaper’s website.
Sarah (29) spoke to the Spalding Guardian the day after she and her husband, Anthony, had celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
She said: “My son Alfie goes to the William Stukeley C Of E Primary School. I love meeting him and seeing his eyes light up when he sees me.
“Yes, some of the mums do talk about me, but they do that to other mums too.
I’m not big because I’m lazy. Alfie has high level autism and it’s hard work looking after him
“I’m not big because I’m lazy. Alfie has high level autism and it’s hard work looking after him.
“But I love him and my family and that’s why I want to lose weight. I’ve been told if I don’t I may die, but I want to see him grow up.”
Sarah said she piled on the pounds following Alfie’s birth, when she had a partial hysterectomy.
She said: “I’m not lazy – I walk everywhere and love swimming. But I was warned when I had the hysterectomy that I could put on more weight.
“February was a wake-up call for me because I was told if I didn’t lose weight I could die.
“I want to see my children grow up and my grandchildren – there’s so much I want to do.
“So I’ve been on a diet since then, swimming and doing exercise with my best friend next door.
“I’ve lost 4st so far and I’ve been told if I lose more I can have a gastric bypass operation.
“I died three times on the operating table and had a blood transfusion when I had the hysterectomy. I’m terrified of operations but I want to do this because I want to live.”
“I’m not trying to rip the NHS off like some people have accused me of – I just want to live. It’s even more important to me now because I’ve just found my father. He went into the army after I was born and my mum lost touch. I don’t want to lose him now.”
Sarah said she reached her lowest point last year when her weight soared to 30st and she suffered depression and anxiety.
To boost her confidence she started doing sexy photo shoots with her husband for the website the couple launched, BBW Angels.
She said: “A lot of people like curvy girls and the website is to raise awareness. I don’t agree with people binge eating to get fat but that is their choice.
“I’m a 50E bra now but I’ll carry on modelling even if I get down to a size 12 or 16.
“It’s something I love. Model Katie Price is my inspiration. She has had so much abuse hurled at her but she just gets on with it.
“That’s how I want to be.
“I want to write a book and also launch my own brand of perfume under my modelling name, Baby Jane.
“There’s so much I want to do, incuding Anthony and I renewing our wedding vows because a lot of people, including my father, couldn’t be there when we got married.
“But first I have to concentrate on losing weight.”
