Spalding area's Kat Wakefield shares her most 2020 experience yet - attending a live streamed concert with The Darkness

It’s a Friday night, I’m quickly covering my face in make up and trying to decide on an outfit while excitedly drinking my first beer of the evening. It all feels like a perfectly normal pre-gig routine, until I open my laptop five minutes before the band appears on stage and click into my live stream web link.

That’s the moment where it becomes apparent that I am attending a live rock ‘n’ roll show from the comfort of my own house and it’s certainly the most 2020 experience of the year (which is saying something!).

Gone are the queues for the loos, no longer do I need worry about a six foot tall man ruining my view of the band, nor do I have to pay the prices venues like to charge for a lukewarm pint of beer and, best of all, I am about to watch my favourite band - The Darkness - play live... to an empty venue.
