FRIENDS and associates of Moulton Community Centre cleaner, Hugh Smillie, gathered to wish him well at an event held to mark his retirement on Saturday.
Mr Smillie, who has looked after the centre for over ten years, was presented with gifts including vouchers and an apple tree by grateful users of the centre.
His wife, Joyce, who helps with floral decorations for the best kept village competition, received a bouquet of flowers.
Roger Seal, chairman of Moulton Community Association, said: “Hugh has been the face of the centre for many years and his services have been valued by a great number of people.
“We therefore organised a collection and invited the centre’s user groups to show their appreciation for all his hard work.
“We have been very fond of him and wish him well.”
