Award-winning Kirton Primary School celebrates 'truly amazing' double shortlisting for the national TES Schools Awards 2019
Kirton Primary School could be in line for more success after it was twice shortlisted for prestigious national awards.
The school is a finalist in both the Maths Team of the Year and the Primary School of the Year categories for the 2019 TES (Times Educational Supplement) Schools Awards.
It is also the third year in a row that the school has been shortlisted in the TES Schools Awards.
Last year, Kirton Primary School was named Primary School of the Year at the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards.
Senior staff will find out whether they have won in one and/or both categories during an awards evening in London on Friday, June 21.
Executive head teacher Nicky Donley said: "Kirton Primary School has been fortunate to win multiple national awards over the last few years, as well as receiving much national attention with regards to our innovative 'Learn and Earn', Shop and Bank initiative.
However, the recognition that has meant the most to us has been local where we have been recognised as the highest performing school in Lincolnshire for four tears running by the Real Schools Guide.
"We were also honoured to have been named Primary School of the Year at the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards last year.
"As well as being pertinent to Lincolnshire, these awards recognised the whole school where we have an amazing team here at Kirton.
"It really has taken the whole school - staff, parents, children and governors - to achieve the success we have.
"Therefore, to have been shortlisted for Primary School of the Year at the TES Schools Awards 2019 is truly amazing."
Kirton is the only primary or secondary school in Lincolnshire to be shortlisted in any of the awards' 19 categories.
TES editor Ann Mroz said: "We had a record number of entries this year and the standard was very high.
"All those shortlisted should be very proud as it is an extraordinary achievement."
