A HARD-WORKING supporter of Spalding Air Training Corps has been honoured for his voluntary work.
James Ward has recently stepped down from the Civilian Committee of 1406 Squadron Air Training Corps Spalding, and received a Commandants Commendation to thank him for his work with young people in South Holland for the past 13 years.
A spokesman for the ATC said: “Mr Ward is regarded as a highly dedicated, motivated and selfless civilian volunteer who has added tremendous value to the young people of South Holland and indeed the ATC over a sustained period.
“He eagerly took up the pivotal role of chairman of the committee shortly after joining in the winter of 1998, a position he filled until spring 2010, and then serving a further year as vice chairman.
“Throughout his 13-year tenure he used his leadership skills, business acumen and ability to grasp difficult issues in order to bring about positive change, generate income through charity events and always with the primary goal of maximising the cadet experience.”
