Developer reveals housing progress at Spalding's former Welland Hospital site
The developer putting up new affordable homes on the site of the former Welland Hospital in Spalding has hailed progress with the development.
Longhurst Group is putting up 36 properties off Roman Bank and Holbeach Road - 18 for shared ownership and 18 for affordable rent.
The development, which will be known as Welland Park, will contain two and three bed properties, which are now starting to take shape.
Marcus Keys, Longhurst Group’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, said: “It’s wonderful to see the progress on site at Welland Park – a development we’re proud to be delivering to this part of Lincolnshire.
“It’ll provide more much-needed affordable housing in Spalding and will help us to meet our vision within our Improving Lives strategy of providing the homes people want, where they’re needed most.
“We’re delighted to be able to give local people the opportunity to buy their first home on this development with 18 homes available through Shared Ownership.
“I’d like to thank our partners at Lindum Group for their hard work on this development and I’m looking forward to the final stages being completed and these homes coming to market later this year.”
Longhurst says it will nod to the site's past history as a hospital.
Marcus added: “It’s important to us to retain the history of sites we develop, so it’s great that we’ve been able to acknowledge the site’s past by naming the development Welland Park and naming the roads in keeping with the NHS theme.”
