PICTURE GALLERY: Holbeach helpers and volunteers thanked at special event

Three Holbeach councillors once again hosted a volunteer event to thank some of the town's unsung heroes.

Francis Biggadike, Tracey Carter and Nick Worth, who all represent Holbeach for South Holland District Council, paid for the afternoon out of their own pockets.

This year saw some new groups enjoying the event, which included a buffet and wine. Some of the Town and Country Fayre committee members were present, along with volunteers from the community bookshop, LIVES First Responders and also Brenda and Les Ward who work so hard throughout the year raising funds for local causes and the Air Ambulance.

Tracey said: “I think this year was even nicer than last year. Even more guests attended, and we improved the layout by adding additional seating areas for the guests. It was a real pleasure to be in the same room at the same time as so many of the wonderful people that keep such fabulous facilities running such as the Pop-in Centre and Chosen charity shop.

"It is a real honour for myself, Francis and Nick to host this event, and we thank each and every single person who adds their magic and time to help Holbeach”.

Nick added: “The event offers the opportunity for many groups to chat, share ideas and sometimes even discuss collaborative working. These busy people don’t always get the chance to do that, so the event offers everyone this opportunity."

Guests were also thanked by Sir John Hayes who attended the event and spent a lot of time speaking with them.

Francis said: "This is a special event for us, we thoroughly enjoy being in the company of such wonderful people, and for having the chance to thank them for making Holbeach an even better place."
