The Rotary Club of Holbeach is merging with a club in Spalding after suffering a fall in membership.

The Holbeach club is transferring its operations to the Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland but aims to go on serving its home patch, keeping on popular events like the Santa sleigh run.

The step takes effect on July 1.

Holbeach Rotary president Colin Scott said the club had historically operated in the communities of Holbeach, Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge, and the surrounding areas.

Speaking at an event celebrating the club's 25 years of service, Mr Scott said membership is falling at a time when the need for voluntary community support has never been higher.

He said: "The club is determined that its previous support of local community groups should continue, where resources allow, through the Spalding and Welland Rotary Club - especially the annual Christmas campaign."
