A popular shortcut in Holbeach which had become overgrown and litter-strewn has been transformed as part of the district council’s Pride in South Holland campaign.
A total of 32 bags of litter and trimmings were collected from an alleyway in Hallgate by South Holland District Council’s Pride team last week.
Residents were extremely grateful for the clean-up work and thanked members of the team with cakes, drinks and sausage rolls.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We have a monitoring officer who identifies sites across the district and suggested that the alleyway was in need of a tidy up.
“The Pride in South Holland campaign has given us extra resources to carry out this kind of work.”
The campaign was launched in 2014 to clean up the district and the Pride team is currently targeting public land in the district which has become littered.
Officers will continue to monitor sites across South Holland and are also keen to hear from members of the public about areas in need of a clean.
