HOLBEACH PARISH COUNCIL: Request to county highways officers for measures to tackle parking problems in Fishpond Lane and St John's Street, Holbeach

Holbeach Parish Council is to ask for measures to be tackle parking problems near the town centre.

People living in Fishpond Lane and St John’s Street have complained of parked cars outside their homes.

During February’s parish council meeting, it was revealed that a builder had put bollards in Fishpond Lane to stop drivers parking where construction work was taking place.

But councillors want a long-term solution to the problem and have asked county highways officers to consider introducing double yellow lines.

Coun Isobel Hutchinson said: “There had been a lot of parked cars outside the houses.

“But that stopped because of barriers put out during the daytime.

“I don’t know whether it’s worth asking Lincolnshire County Council for some double yellow lines in Fishpond Lane because people seem to have taken matters into their own hands.”

A county highways spokesman said: “New parking restrictions could be considered if requested by the parish council.

“There is a legal process we need to follow and the first step involves advertising the proposals and then holding a public consultation.”
