Heather Beeken, who is a member of the orchestra, said the group does not charge for concerts but does accept donations which it passes onto local charities.

Mrs Beeken, a former headteacher of the school, said: "We prefer to support local charities as the money supports the people who live in this area.

"We played a few songs for the children and explained why we were there."
