A NEW campaign has been launched warning against unscrupulous traders after a number of complaints from people in Lincolnshire.
Trading Standards has heard from several elderly residents who have received “persuasive” telephone calls from an “assessor” wishing to make an appointment to visit them to talk about mobility aids. Many victims have agreed to a visit just to get them off the phone.
The assessor is in fact a salesperson who uses high pressure techniques to persuade people to buy, and in some cases victims have parted with hundreds of pounds.
Pricipal Trading Standards officer Lisa Foster said: “Don’t be afraid to turn down ‘no obligation’ phone calls for home visits. Take time to shop around.”
