Labour of love to renovate Spalding's Cemetery

More news, no ads

A ‘forgotten’ part of Spalding’s history has undergone a £200,000 ‘labour of love’ renovation to help secure its future for years to come.

People from all walks of life - some who made a difference to town or died serving their country - are spending eternity together in the stunning surroundings of Spalding Cemetery - and their number even includes a ‘giant’ (see box) whose grave location is a mystery.

Volunteers from Friends of Spalding Cemetery and South Holland District Council have transformed the cemetery to improve the ambience and experience of the site, which boasts two chapels and the Johnson Mausoleum.
