The latest from Guardian Angel
Hats off – literally in some cases – to all the traders and customers who made it on to Spalding market in Tuesday’s extremely strong winds. Angel was literally blown away at seeing some of the hardy traders who stuck it out so she could still get her five-a-day stocks topped up.
• Angel was slightly alarmed to see a pair of sturdy boots poking out of an enormous fishing umbrella as she walked to work one rainy morning last week. Assuming the worst – someone sleeping rough with nothing more than an umbrella for protection – Angel popped her head around the brolly, only to see an engineer busily working away in one of those telecoms cupboards, using the umbrella to keep himself and all the wiring dry.
• Angel has been rather fascinated by the property being built in the Gore Lane car park.
With its wooden overhanging frontage, it looks rather like properties you might expect to see in Europe. Shame the new tenants will have to look out over piles of rubbish and graffiti. But well done to the designers. Apparently it’s two flats and builders have been in this week finishing them off. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of these.
• Those riverside ducks seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment. Two were spotted outside Spalding News last week, no doubt queuing up for their favourite weekly read of the Spalding Guardian. Then another two were spotted strolling along Halmergate. Obviously looking to nest in a top-notch garden no doubt.
• Angel is having trouble resisting the Easter eggs placed on top of her fridge. One of them is close to home, it being a Frozen egg. But don’t tell the kids...
