The latest from our girl about town

Angel is recovering from rather a calamitous week.

Firstly, on Monday morning she was looking forward to taking ownership of a brand-new fridge freezer.

The delivery man came on time, Angel greeted him and all was happy in her world... until it was discovered the appliance was too big to fit through her back door.

It would have fitted through the conservatory doors... but would then have to be stored there forever.

So it was with a heavy heart that she gave up on her acquisition and ordered a smaller one.

Angel knows she should have measured up but surely appliances that won’t fit through standard doors should be advertised as such?

* On Tuesday, still mourning her fridge freezer, Angel parked her chariot, only for her key to break from the fob and drop down a tiny hole where the seat

moving rails go backwards and forwards.

Try as she might she could not retrieve the key from the tiny hole and the AA had to be called. A fun game, similar to the children’s favourite “Operation” then enused, with Mr AA trying to retrieve the key with a bit of Blu-tack on the end of a long wire. Eventually he retrieved it and a traumatic couple of days ended happily!

* The delays caused by roadworks are extremely frustrating for drivers who have to use the twin bridges in Spalding. Naturally, drivers are looking for alternative routes to avoid getting snarled in traffic. However, Angel was astonished to see a huge lorry waiting to drive over High Bridge and completely blocking the road for motorists travelling in the opposite direction towards Cowbit. Should these huge vehicles be using that route?
