This newspaper reported that Mr George Casswell, of Bank House, Gosberton, had two daughters at the front as nurses, working in Queen Alexandra’s Nursing Service in 1916.

They were Miss M T Casswell and Miss Margaret R Casswell.

The women had been in France since August 1914.

The report said: “And now comes the gratifying news that they have been mentioned in dispatches. We have pleasure in reproducing the accompanying photographs, and at the same time extending our congratulations.”
