SausageFest 2015 competitiors.

September is the month for that traditional Lincolnshire event, SausageFest, when butchers across the entire county compete for titles.

This year saw each of the delegates tasting in excess of 20 different sausages from makers county-wide.

From Redhill Farm in Gainsborough, to Spalding’s very own Bennett’s Butchers, competitors put forward their tastiest meaty delights for comparison.

Each of the sausages entered has to be a traditional Lincolnshire sausage, and each is blind tasted and scored for its flavour, texture and overall experience. Only when every sausage has been consumed do the scores get totted up and the winner revealed.

This year’s winner was Sharpe’s of Gosberton, who consistently do very well at the event, but have now reclaimed the title they last held three years ago.

Moulton Butchers and Simpson’s of Spalding took the second and third spots respectively.
