Free blood pressure check in Spalding could save your life
South Holland Rotarians and medical professionals are getting together in Spalding on Saturday with the aim of saving lives.
Free blood pressure checks will be held from 10.30am-3pm at The South Holland Centre.
It's a simple test that could stop you from having a potentially deadly or profoundly disabling stoke.
Rotarian Ken Bush says: "It was a couple of years ago when I was outside The South Holland Centre guiding people in when a man came to me and said he believed the previous year we had saved the life of his wife.
"She had high blood pressure - but didn't know it - so, on the recommendation of the health professional who took her blood pressure, she went to see her GP.
"The husband was delighted with what we had done and they come back each year to see us. For me, that story made the whole project worthwhile!"
The GP who helps on the day says several people come along to check that the professional blood pressure readings correspond with the readings they take at home with their own monitors - and that is perfectly all right and a good reason to come along.
