Holbeach's Cards and More offers everything you need this Christmas
This Christmas we are encouraging our readers to shop local for all of their festive essentials and treats.
Whether it’s turkey and the trimmings, a tree to decorate and admire or presents for loved ones, it can all be found in South Holland.
This year, due to the pandemic and lockdown restrictions, many shops are offering alternatives to popping in store for a browse, such as online shopping and click and collect services.
If you’re looking for Christmas cards and wrapping paper for the big day, Cards and More on High Street in Holbeach is operating a click and collect shop.
Owner Tom Juniper says that he will always go the extra mile to help customers, which sets local shops apart from corporates.
He said: “ The thing with corporates is that they buy so much stock in that they get things cheaper and sell for less, but obviously we have to charge a little bit more.
“However, if you walked into a big chain store and they didn’t have what you wanted I doubt they would spend hours online searching for what you want and then order it in, but I would. That’s the difference between us.
“We are all guilty of shopping with sites like Amazon because we tend to shop wherever it’s convenient but if you shop local online the shops will still be here on the high street when this is over.”
The clue is in the name at Cards and More, as Tom also stocks a wide range of board games, puzzles, gifts and candles.
There’s also currently an extended offer on boxed Christmas cards to take advantage of. More information regarding the click and collect service can be found on the Cards and More Facebook page or by calling 01406 422225.
If you are in search of unique home crafted gifts, one of the latest additions to Holbeach’s High Street, Funky Dora’s, is a treasure trove filled to the brim with something for everyone.
Owner Sam Bailey is stocking items made by around 50 independent crafters, from quirky gifts to Christmas decorations. Sam is also running a click and collect service at the shop with delivery available too.
She said: “I’m here all the time so no matter what time people need to collect their items I’ll be here.
“We have some lovely homemade items in and it’s so important that people shop local so that we can survive.”
