The annual Christmas lights switch-on in Spalding marking the start of the local festive season is being organised this year by Tulip Radio and is in Hall Place on Saturday, November 14 from 10am.

Spalding Chamber of Commerce, South Holland District Council, Majestic Bingo , Springfields Outlet and Shopping Centre, EMG, Bakkavor, Fancy Frox, Hills Department Store, and Rookes Pet Products are all supporting the event.

The day includes the 2016 Tulip Queen competition and a fun dog show – classes are £1 each to enter. Applications are now being accepted for those who would like to be the 2016 Tulip Queen. The winner will switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

The schools choir competition will also be held, with £100 given to the first eight schools to enter. This prize giving finale for all participating schools is at St John’s Church on Friday, December 4 – and all schools MUST be available on that day from 10am.

As well as all the competitions, many local performers have been booked to entertain throughout the day.

To apply to be the 2016 Tulip Queen or to take part in the school choir competition or to enter your dog in the Just for Fun Dog Show please contact Jan Whitbourn on 01775 712400/email
