Spalding High School headmistress praises students after 53% achieved 9-7 grades
Spalding High School's headmistress has praised the commitment of students following another set of excellent GCSE results.
Michele Anderson is over the moon to have achieved 1,539 GCSE qualifications today, with 53% of these at grade 9-7 - the highest grades possible.
Mrs Anderson said: "We are so proud of our Year 11 students. Despite the challenging circumstances, this is an excellent set of results and we are thrilled that the High School students have done so well again this year.
"Y11 have achieved 1,539 GCSE qualifications today, with 53% of these at grade 9-7, the highest grades possible nationally. However, it is not just about the top grades but the progress the students have made in their time at them High School and our initial analysis suggests we can look forward to positive Progress 8 scores again this year. We are thrilled for them all.
"Their results are testament to their commitment and hard work alongside the support of their parents and carers and the dedication of our experienced staff. We continue to be very proud of our students’ Enghlish Baccalaureate results with 93% ofstudents entered for the qualification. Over 97% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in English and Mathematics and 84% achieved a Grade 5+ ('good pass').
"The great majority of Year 11s will be returning to the High School in September to take up A-Level courses along with a large number of transferees from other schools. We are still accepting applications to our Sixth Form for September and would urge students to get in touch. We are looking forward to welcoming them all.
"We wish all our students the very best of luck and every success in the future and we will continue to support all students in securing their progression routes. We would like to thank them for helping to make the High School the special place that it is.”
Donington teenager Maddie Haunch is thrilled to have achieved got five Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and two Grade 7s.
Proud Maddie is looking forward to studying Maths, Geography and Biology at A Level at Spalding High School.
Libby Prudham is looking forward to moving onto A-Levels after securing six Grade 9s and five Grade 8s.
She said: "I’m very happy with my results and I’m extremely proud of myself for working hard during the pandemic. I’m going to do maths, chemistry and biology A Levels at Spalding High School."
Tammy Franks did not let the pandemic stop her from achieving.
She secured three Grade 8s, six Grade 7s and two grade 6s.
Tammy said: "When life gives you lemons, get good GCSE results and thank your school for supporting you"
