Spalding road closure for gas main to be replaced under railway line

Overnight road closures in Winsover Road will see Cadent replacing 60 metres of gas main under the railway line.

Work starts on Monday, January 27 and it will run through to Monday, February 10, with road closures timed for 7pm-6am.

A spokesman for the company said: "Cadent is proposing to replace some 60 metres of iron gas mains in Winsover Road, Spalding, with new, hardwearing plastic pipes that will keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses until the end of the century.

"Work is due to start on January 27 for two weeks and is part of a nationwide gas mains renewal programme.

"The existing pipe runs under the railway line and to avoid disruption to train services, the work will take place at night.

"There will be a road closure in place every night, from 7pm to 6am, while the work is under way.

"A signed diversion route will be in place. We would like to thank people for their patience while we carry out this essential work.

"Winsover Road will be closed between Park Road and St Thomas's Road so residents will still be able to get to their homes from either end of Winsover Road; however, there will be no through route as the road on either side of the level crossing will be closed."
