Weston garden centre to close its doors for all but essential shopping during lockdown

The owners of a popular Weston garden centre have decided to close the doors to the majority of the business during lockdown.

The main centre at Baytree Garden Centre, along with the restaurant, coffee shop and retail franchises, will remain closed in a bid to keep staff and shoppers safe.

However, the Farm Shop, pet department and outdoor plant area will remain open as they sell essential items.

A Baytree spokesperson said: "Although we are allowed to stay open during lockdown we have decided not to.

"We think it's not fair on our staff or on the public to remain open.

"We also feel that we do not want to encourage people to come out.

"The click or call and collect service will still be available and that's completely safe as you don't need to leave your car at all.

"We will also continue to run our local deliveries, where we can offer veg boxes and frozen food packages which can be found online."
