Out now

After the disjointed effort that was Lego Marvel’s Avengers, this is a tremendous return to form for the brick-laying franchise – as The Force Awakens rekindles the series in much the same way the movie did for Star Wars after the prequel trilogy.

There’s an endless list of likes here: Great flying sections, fantastic use of humour in cut-scenes and ingenious use of secret exploration – all while playing as newbies Rey, Finn, BB-8, Kylo Ren and co alongside the old guard (Han Solo etc) – which leads to an adventure that has oodles of charm.

It can’t avoid one or two repetitive puzzling niggles, and the hub worlds could have been better designed, but as Lego games go this is out of this world – and is one hell of a blast.
