Heavenly night out!

More than 400 party-goers went to either heaven or hell at a ball to raise money for local charities on Saturday.

Held at Springfields Event and Conference centre, the Heaven and Hell Ball was organised by the Spalding Ball committee, who previously arranged the annual Midsummer Ball in the town.

Saturday's event was raising funds for South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service (SOLDAS), Lighthouse and Safe Places. The committee is still totting up the final total.

Angels and devils mixed happily and enjoyed the sounds of the UK Gospel Choir and the RJP Band - lead by Rick Parfitt jnr.

Numerous local companies got involved by sponsoring the event and ball-goers were able to play for prizes including televisions, X-Boxes, a barrow of booze and a trip for two to Milan - all donated to the cause.

"What a night!" said committee member Mandy Baxter. "It was amazing - very good and really busy.

"It was such a positive night and we have had fantastic feedback. We are already planning next year's ball!"
