VOLUNTEERS have been given a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.
Donington in Bloom has been awarded £1,250 by the People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The money will be used to buy a new automatic irrigation system which controls the amount of water fed to plants and seedlings to reduce waste.
The irrigation system will complement a water harvesting tank which was paid for with a £1,870 grant from the trust last May. That purchase helped Donington in Bloom win gold in the East Midlands in Bloom competition, leading to an invitation to take part in the national contest this year.
Elizabeth Walker, chairman of Donington in Bloom, said: “On behalf of Donington in Bloom we would like to say a big thank you, without the help of the People’s Postcode Lottery will would still be using mains water.”
