Fundraiser to return body of murdered Spalding woman to Lithuania
The best friend of a Spalding woman who police believe was murdered has launched a fundraising campaign so her body can returned to her native Lithuania.
Police found the body of Karolina Zinkeviciene (30), along with that of Breshnev Ruiters (34), at their address in Winsover Road, Spalding.
Following a post mortem examination detectives said it indicated that Karolina was murdered.
Further investigations are required to establish the cause of Mr Ruiters death but police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the two deaths.
Karolina was from Lithuania and had a young daughter who was also living in the UK.
Her best friend Raminta Kailiunaite has launched a fundraising appeal to return her body to her family in Lithuania.
In an emotional post, Raminta said: "Not sure how to start this post.
"My best friend Karolina Zinkeviciene has been taken away from us, her daughter, parents, family, friends, colleagues are in very great pain.
"At this moment I am asking you to support Karolina's family financially through the period of darkness. The last thing we can do is to help Karolina to be returned to her loving parents back in Lithuania.
"Please remember her the way she was – extremely funny, smart, loving, energised, beautiful, strong."
Police found the two bodies after they were called to the semi-detached rented property in Winsover Road shortly after 5.30am on June 25.
Floral tributes have been left to Karolina outside the house.
The initial target of £1,000 has been quickly surpassed with donations already exceeding £3,000.
Raminta added: "Karolina was my best friend and I wish that we all could support her family and help to bring our Karolina back to Lithuania.
"I'm crying at seeing how much support we have received recently, she would be so happy to see how many people loved her, how important she was and still is."
