After Sarah and Bryan Hewitt lost their beloved Jack Russell of 14 years they approached Jerry Green Dog Rescue at Algarkirk, in the hope of finding another dog to love.

With the help of volunteers at the centre, the Donington couple found their ‘perfect little girl’ in the shape of Mia.

They are just one of the many couples, families and individuals who have been helped by Jerry Green in finding their perfect dog to bring into their home.

And we are supporting Jerry Green with its appeal to raise £200,000 to build new kennels at its South Lincolnshire Centre and want to raise £4,000, with the help of our readers to build the first new kennel for the block.

“Mia has the sweetest nature and is so loving,” Sarah and Bryan said.

“She loves to cuddle us, as much as we do her. She is a Border Terrier crossed with a Jack Russell.

“She has many traits of our last gorgeous boy; she is so very special and gentle.

“Mia now enjoys long walks, twice a day and has many balls to chase after.

“She is a delight to watch when all we need to do is stamp our feet, and she charges round and round our lawn at top speed. She is a joy to be with.

“If anyone reads this, and is in any doubt about re-homing a dog as we did, please do it.

“Mia has brought so much joy and love into our home. Please give another dog a loving home if you can.”

Also, to help with fundraising, I’ll be climbing Snowdon in Wales on Saturday, April 28.

The mountain, one of the three highest peaks in Britain, rises 3,560 feet above sea level.

As well as being a personal challenge (and on my list of 40 things to do before I turn 40 next year), it’s a great chance to help the rescue centre’s appeal to build its new kennels.

If you would like to sponsor me to climb Snowdon for the appeal, or pledge direct to help Jerry Green build its new kennels you can do so via the following ways:
