Families in Long Sutton can enjoy a free night out to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on Thursday, April 21.
The beacon on Winfrey Park will be lit at 8pm – in common with others across the country – and Events and Entertainments in Long Sutton (EELS) will be staging free fireworks to make it a memorable occasion for children.
EELS chairman Jack Tyrrell said: “I like the free events, I like everybody to have fun.
“It should be a good night.”
The district councillor understands other parishes will be lighting their beacons the same night to play a part in the royal celebrations.
Patriotic celebrations will continue in Long Sutton on St George’s Day, Saturday, April 23 in The Royal British Legion Hall on West Street when popular singer Della entertains with music styles including Motown, Northern Soul and reggae.
It is hoped that money raised from the music event will help fund the EELS free fireworks display.
Tickets cost £10 and are available from The Royal British Legion Hall or from the Silverwood Nursery Centre in Brown’s Gate.
