Four sons from same Spalding family service King and country

Have your say

This newspaper 100 years ago carried the photograph of four Spalding sons who were all serving King and country.

They were the four of the six sons of Mr and Mrs W Woods, of Albion Street, but formerly of the Great Northern Hotel in Winsover Road.

The men were Corporal Jack Woods (the third son) of the 1st South Lancashire Regiment stationed in India, who had seen eight years’ service; Private Fred Woods (second son), a dresser in the AVC; Lance-Corporal Tom Woods (fourth son), who was based at the Remount Depot in Shirehampton, near Bristol; and Private Harry Woods (the fifth son), who was in the 3rd Lincolnshire Regiment at Grimsby.
