Former owner of Chips Ahoy, Spalding, cleared of two charges of having sex with a teenage girl
A former Spalding fish and chip shop owner has been cleared by a jury of having sex with a teenage girl.
Peter Donger (38), who ran Chips Ahoy in Little London, faced a retrial at Lincoln Crown Court having denied any inappropriate behaviour towards a 14-year-old girl.
The defendant told the jury he had never engaged in sex with the girl and there was no sexual contact between them.
Donger, of Market Lane, Walpole St Andrew, had denied two charges of sexual activity with a child between February 1 and December 26, 2016.
Richard Thatcher, prosecuting, suggested that the girl had a crush on Donger which he had taken advantage of.
But in response, Donger said that sex never took place between himself and the girl.
At a hearing on Friday, the jury found him not guilty of both charges.
